What is pelvic health physiotherapy?
Pelvic Health physio is the assessment of and treatment/management of incontinence, pelvic pain or sexual dysfunction related to pelvic floor dysfunction. It is a treatment for both women and men.
Physical assessments/examinations for pelvic floor dysfunction can be done both internally and externally. An internal examination, however, is the most effective way for pelvic floor muscle palpation and strength/function measurement.
Based on examination findings a treatment regime based on education and exercises for self-management will be prescribed. Most patients will require 4 to 6 treatments over a timeframe of 3-6 months to achieve the best results.
